If you live in Japan and already need something, major Prime shopping events can be worth checking. But the % badges can mislead: some items with large discount badges matched the prices the Japanese blog Rakuama recorded on October 12.
To find candidates, I used AI to collect sale-roundup articles published from September 30 to October 16 and posts from about 40 X (Twitter) accounts that share Amazon deals. I used them only to find candidates. To judge prices, I used only the Amazon.co.jp product pages and price records, checked on October 16, 2026 (4–5 pm JST), rechecked on October 17 (1–2 pm JST). Prices change during the sale, so I do not list them here. Use the buttons to see today’s price.
Who this guide is for
This guide is written for people living in Japan who use Amazon.co.jp. Prime sales require Amazon.co.jp Prime membership, and you will need a delivery address in Japan.
How to read Amazon.co.jp in English
Amazon.co.jp has an English display, which you can switch on from the language menu at the top of the site. The product links in this article open the English version of each page. Some product details and labels may still appear in Japanese.
How to tell a real deal: 3 checks
1. Check what the discount is compared with
Under the sale price, Amazon.co.jp shows the price it is comparing against. There are two main labels:
| Label (English / Japanese) | What Amazon says it means | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Was / 過去価格 | The 90-day median selling price paid by customers on the site, regardless of the seller. Prices from limited-time deals are excluded. | Not the same as the price just before the sale, or the lowest price ever. |
| List Price / 参考価格 | The suggested retail price set by someone other than retailers, such as the manufacturer. | Items that are usually discounted can show a big % without being cheaper than usual. |
Both definitions come from the notes on Amazon.co.jp product pages. Whichever label is used, a discount on its own does not show that the item is cheaper than before the sale or cheaper than at other stores, so do checks 2 and 3 as well.
2. Compare with the price before the sale
A useful check is the price a few days before the sale. Compare the same model, the same seller and the same quantity. For this sale, the Japanese blog Rakuama recorded prices on October 12, and I compared them with the sale prices (I could not confirm that the seller was the same in every case). Several mice, keyboards and earbuds showed big % badges but were the same price as on October 12.
3. Compare with other stores
For appliances, check Kakaku.com (価格.com), Japan’s main price-comparison site. Match the model number, accessories, condition and shipping. Also look at Ships from and Sold by on the product page.
The 12 items at a glance
Being below the displayed “Was” price does not confirm a drop from the pre-sale price; for rows that mention only the Was price, I have not established whether the item became cheaper for this sale. The October 12 records are a pre-sale reference, and I could not confirm that the seller was the same in every case. Sale prices are for Prime members; check the conditions on the product page after signing in.
UZUREA is a Japanese site that records Amazon prices. “UZUREA’s price record” here means its record of new items sold by Amazon.co.jp from September 30, 2025 to September 30, 2026. Kakaku.com comparisons were made only where the model number matched, and shipping was not included. When I checked on October 16, the seller of every item below was Amazon.co.jp or a store under the brand’s name (AnkerDirect, ECOVACS). When you buy, check “Sold by” and “Ships from” separately.
| Item | Type | What I found |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Select | Amazon devices | Below the “Was” price shown on the product page. |
| Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max | Amazon devices | Below the “Was” price shown on the product page; lower than the price the Japanese blog Rakuama recorded on October 12, before the sale. |
| Amazon Kindle Colorsoft | Amazon devices | Below the “Was” price shown on the product page; lower than the price the Japanese blog Rakuama recorded on October 12, before the sale. |
| iRobot Roomba Plus 415 Combo (vacuum + mop) | Home appliances | Below the “Was” price shown on the product page. |
| ECOVACS DEEBOT T50S OMNI | Home appliances | The same as the lowest listed item price on the Kakaku.com page for the same model, excluding shipping. |
| Dyson V12 Detect Slim Fluffy | Home appliances | Below the “Was” price shown on the product page. |
| Dyson Supersonic hair dryer HD08 (nickel/copper) | Home appliances | Below the “Was” price shown on the product page. |
| Braun Series 9 SPORT 9360cc electric shaver (Amazon.co.jp exclusive) | Home appliances | Below the “Was” price shown on the product page. |
| Braun Series 5 electric shaver 52-M1200s (Amazon.co.jp exclusive) | Home appliances | Below the “Was” price shown on the product page. |
| Anker Nano Charging Station (7-in-1, 100W) | Chargers | Lower than the price the Japanese blog Rakuama recorded on October 12, before the sale. |
| by Amazon microwave rice, Japanese-grown, 200 g × 24 | Food and daily items | Below the “Was” price shown on the product page. |
| Red Bull Energy Drink 250 ml × 24 (Amazon.co.jp exclusive) | Food and daily items | Below the lowest price in UZUREA’s price record; below the “Was” price shown on the product page. |
All results are as of October 16, 2026 (4–5 pm JST), rechecked on October 17 (1–2 pm JST). Prices may change, and items may sell out.

Before you buy: things to know in Japan
- Voltage and plugs: household outlets in Japan supply 100 V. If you plan to use something overseas, check its rated voltage, frequency and plug type first.
- Manuals: many products come with Japanese manuals. Check the product page if you need English support.
- Returns: check the return conditions on the product page before you buy large items.
Items to compare before you buy
Some popular items needed a closer look. If you are considering these items, review the comparisons below before deciding.
- Same price as before the sale: the Logitech M575SPd trackball mouse, the MX KEYS mini keyboard and AirPods 4 matched the prices Rakuama recorded on October 12. Their discounts were against the List Price.
- Above UZUREA’s recorded low: the De’Longhi Magnifica S coffee machine (ECAM22112B), Savas soy protein (cocoa, 920 g) and Suntory natural water (label-free, 550 ml × 24).
- No sale discount shown: the SwitchBot Hub 3.
- Compare with other stores first: the Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds were below UZUREA’s recorded low, but a note post by Mitsu recorded the same price on October 12, and Kakaku.com listed a cheaper store.
Don’t forget the points campaign
Separately from the sale prices, Amazon runs a points-up campaign. The sale page says you need to enter (register for) the campaign during the campaign period and meet conditions such as a minimum spend to get extra points. Check the campaign page for eligible purchases, spending requirements and point limits.
